About BananaLemon
BananaLemon formed in 2016 with members Nadia, Mizuki, Saarah, and R!NO. Their name comes from the idea that they’re sweet and cute like bananas, and bitter and cool like lemons. The group were originally produced by STY who has worked with the likes of EXILE, Girls’ Generation (SNSD), and Koda Kumi. Their first single ‘#SorryNotSorry’ released in December 2016, followed by ‘DIAMONDS’ in May 2017. The group continued to frequently release new music, until R!NO’s departure due to ill health in 2018. BananaLemon continued on as a trio until 2019, where Brazilian Japanese rapper Lety joined, introduced with the single ‘#slaysian’. However, in 2021 Lety left the group due to creative differences. Again, they carried on as a trio, releasing several more singles, and in 2023 came their first EP ‘BESTY’. In 2024, the group collaborated with R&B singer NaNa for the single ‘AiAi’. Currently BananaLemon is MOMONADY (formerly Nadia), Saarah, and Mizuki. Notably, the group have a multicultural background. MOMONADY is Japanese, Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish, Saarah is US-born Japanese Afro-American, and Mizuki is Japanese.
