KICK THE CAN CREW have released THE CAN, their first album in about 4 and a half years.

Formed in 1997, the group are regarded as taking Japanese hip-hop into the mainstream with hits such as Marché, It’s Not Over, and Unbalance

After disbanding in 2004, KICK THE CAN CREW made their comeback by releasing the album KICK! in 2017, which marked the 20th anniversary of the trio’s formation.

Early in their career they joined the hip-hop community FUNKY GRAMMAR UNIT comprised of fellow legendary hip-hop units RHYMESTER, EAST END, RIP SLYME, and MELLOW YELLOW. Formed due to hip-hop’s poor reputation in Japan at the time, though they never released music as a collective, the group collaborated on music production and featured on each other’s tracks.

Having topped Japan’s music charts on multiple occasions, two of KTCC’s albums were certified platinum and one double platinum.

A music video for the title track of the new LP, said to be the 2022 version of their debut indie single Kankeri, was also released a day before the album.
