Rina Sawayama is back with her first single from her forthcoming album Hold The Girl due for release September 2nd.

This Hell, produced by Paul Epworth, is a rapturous tongue-in-cheek pop meets country track laced with glam rock guitars and LGBTQ empowerment lyrics.

Talking about the new single Rina described the importance of its message.

“It’s an important song for me given the human rights that are being taken away from minorities at a rapid rate in the name of traditional religious beliefs, more specifically I was thinking about the rights being taken away from the LGBTQ community when I wrote this song. When the world tells us we don’t deserve love and protection, we have no choice but to give love and protection to each other. This Hell is better with you.”

The song also shouts-out prominent queer icons such as Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, and Princess Diana.

Hold The Girl will be Rina’s first album release since her critically acclaimed Y2K inspired 2020 album SAWAYAMA.

Rina has also announced dates for her 8-date UK and Ireland album release tour starting this October. Tickets go on general sale on May 27th.
