Rock four-piece tricot have announced a 13-date UK tour for this November as part of their ongoing Zang-Neng Tour. The tour, which kicked off earlier this year to coincide with the release of their latest album, Fudeki, will serve as the band’s 5th ever UK tour.
Released in December 2022, Fudeki, meaning “useless” in Japanese, stands in stark contrast to their 2021 album, Jodeki, which translates to “excellent.” Vocalist Ikkyu Nakajima selected the tour name Zang-Neng, derived from a Japanese phrase meaning “that’s too bad,” as an extension of the album title.
Last fall the band played 20 shows across 10 countries as part of their postponed WALKING X WALKING European/UK tour, which boasted sold-out performances in London, Manchester, Paris, Belgium, and Germany.
tricot, formed in Kyoto in 2010, have crafted a distinct musical style that combines harmonic pop melodies, emotionally charged vocals, and intricate rhythms. While often categorized as math-rock, the band members themselves are not well-acquainted with the genre, allowing them to create a sound that is uniquely their own.
With a track record of 129 successful shows overseas, including tours in the US, Asia, and Europe, as well as supporting slots for renowned acts like the Pixies, tricot have garnered a devoted fanbase around the world.
