WACK, the renowned Japanese alt-idol agency known for its disruptive influence on the nation’s music scene, is gearing up for its very first international showcase in London – ‘WACK in the UK’ on November 16th at The Underworld in Camden. The event will host three of WACK’s unconventional idol acts.

WACK initially gained notoriety with BiS, once labelled “the most hated girl group in Japan” by VICE. Known for their provocative photoshoots and unruly music videos, BiS disbanded in 2014, leaving a trail of chaos. Nevertheless, WACK’s influence persisted as it continued to nurture nonconventional stars who pushed the boundaries of pop and rock. One standout act, BiSH (Brand-new idol SHiT), boldly declared themselves a “punk band with no instruments”.

The debut ‘WACK in the UK’ event will feature the special unit AiNATOAOI, a duo comprising BiSH founding member AiNA THE END and renowned dancer/model AOI YAMADA. Celebrated for her 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games closing ceremony performance, AOI YAMADA previously collaborated with AiNA THE END on the music video for her solo single ‘Red:birthmark’, written and produced by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure, and used as the ending theme for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. This unique unit is dedicated solely to this event, with fans speculating about their disbandment after their debut.

Joining them are the enigmatic ASP, a seven-member group that stormed the Tokyo scene with their debut album ‘ANAL SEX PENiS’ in 2021, and ExWHYZ, a formation comprised of former members of WACK and Avex collaboration EMPiRE, who recently headlined the prestigious Nippon Budokan.
