Japanese musical legend Yoshiki is set to make his triumphant solo debut at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 13th, marking his first UK appearance in over six years as part of his highly anticipated REQUIEM world tour.
Yoshiki, widely regarded as “one of the most influential musicians and composers in Japanese history,” boasts a multifaceted career as a classically trained pianist, rock drummer, and the driving force behind bands like X Japan and The Last Rockstars. With a diverse musical palette spanning classical to heavy metal, Yoshiki has sold over 30 million albums, solidifying his status as one of Japan’s foremost musical innovators.
Accompanied by the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Yoshiki’s Royal Albert Hall concert will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his third classical studio album, Yoshiki Classical. Co-produced and arranged by the legendary Beatles producer George Martin, the 2013 album debuted at #1 on the iTunes Classical Music chart in ten countries.
Yoshiki will be joined by special guests Ellie Goulding to unveil their new collaboration live on stage, and St. Vincent, who previously partnered with Yoshiki to create the classical arrangement of her hit song, New York.
REQUIEM will offer a showcase of Yoshiki’s original compositions, reimagined pieces by classical composers, and orchestral renditions of X Japan’s chart-topping tracks.
Yoshiki’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall will etch his name in history as the first Japanese artist to headline this iconic venue—described by Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin as “the Holy Grail for musicians.”
