In a surprising turn of events, the Osaka rock unit KANA-BOON has declared a hiatus following the departure of drummer Takahiro Koizumi and guitarist Hayato Koga amidst personal controversies. The band’s management officially terminated the contracts of both members in response to recent developments.

The decision to suspend all activities for the remainder of the year, including live performances and events, was communicated through the band’s official website. This includes the cancellation of their ’47 SKIP STREET’ tour and withdrawal from commitments like ‘FM802 ROCK FESTIVAL RADIO CRAZY 2023’ and ‘COUNTDOWN JAPAN 23/24’.

Revelations surrounding Takahiro Koizumi’s personal life, involving a relationship with an underground idol resulting in a series of challenges, including pregnancy and abortion, triggered his departure. Koizumi acknowledged the general accuracy of these reports and expressed deep regret, ultimately choosing to part ways with the band.

Guitarist Hayato Koga faced allegations of misconduct in his private life, leading to discussions and attempts at resolution. However, the management concluded that further activities as part of KANA-BOON would be difficult, resulting in Koga’s departure from the band.

Addressing the situation on social media, KANA-BOON’s vocalist, Maguro Taniguchi, conveyed a resolute commitment to continue the band’s activities alongside bassist Masami Endo as a duo. Taniguchi apologised to fans for the news, emphasising their commitment to the journey ahead.

KANA-BOON, a major name in Japan’s rock scene, gained international acclaim through their highly popular contributions to anime series such as Naruto, Mobile Suit Gundam, and My Hero Academia. Fans have expressed concerns and support for the remaining members, reflecting apprehensions about the band’s future amidst the KANA-BOON hiatus.

The band’s management assured fans that ongoing discussions would shape their future activities, promising updates in the coming months. As the hiatus begins, the loyal fanbase eagerly awaits further developments and hopes for KANA-BOON’s eventual return.
