Tokyo funk quintet Kroi are set to launch their 2nd major single, ‘Sesame’, on January 17th, 2024. The single will serve as the opening theme for the eagerly anticipated TV anime Bucchigiri?!, scheduled to premiere on January 13th, 2024.
Alongside the single’s release, Kroi has unveiled three exclusive live shows for members of their fan club, aptly named “Funk Club”. Kicking off on April 20th, 2024, the band will take to CLUB QUATTRO venues in Osaka, Tokyo, and Nagoya.
Since their formation in February 2018, Kroi have been honing their genre-defying musical fusion, drawing inspiration from R&B, funk, soul, rock, and hip-hop. Signed under Pony Canyon/IRORI Records, the band made a major debut with their album ‘LENS’ in 2021. Building on their success, Kroi embarked on the ‘Magnetic’ tour earlier this year, attracting a whopping 16,000 attendees. Now the band is gearing up for their first ever, and already sold-out, Nippon Budokan performance on January 20th.
Alongside the CD release, the new single will also be available in Blu-ray and DVD editions. These editions will feature exclusive footage from Kroi’s performance at NHK Hall in Tokyo on June 23rd, a highlight of their 2023 ‘Magnetic’ tour.
Earlier this year, the band dropped their high-energy 1st major single, ‘Hyper’. The track was chosen to be used as the opening theme for the TV anime ‘Under Ninja,’ adapted from Kengo Hanazawa’s popular manga.
