J-pop takes center stage at Coachella 2024, as YOASOBI, Hatsune Miku, and ATARASHII GAKKO! secure spots in the event’s sonically diverse line-up.

Held over two weekends in April, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California stands as one of the world’s largest platforms for the most influential artists in the industry. This year’s festival will showcase the unique blend of genres represented by three of Japan’s most prominent stars of the 2020s.

YOASOBI | April 12th + 19th

Viral hit-makers YOASOBI, celebrated for elevating J-pop’s global status, join the festival after a successful US debut at 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Festival last August. At the turn of the new year, the duo made waves across social media by bringing together some of the biggest names in J-pop and K-pop for their set at NHK’s 74th annual Kōhaku.

ATARASHII GAKKO! | April 14th + 21st

88rising stars, ATARASHII GAKKO!, known for their boundary-pushing multi-genre style and outlandish performances, have firmly established themselves as a J-pop authority on the international stage. Following their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel in 2023 and a hugely successful sold-out Budokan show earlier this month, ATARASHII GAKKO! will add Coachella to their ever expanding list of major milestones.

Hatsune Miku | April 13th + 20th

Vocaloid veteran Hatsune Miku makes a highly anticipated debut at Coachella, following an unfortunate withdrawal in 2020 due to the global pandemic. The virtual idol will present a stacked set of globally adored crowdsourced tracks and an immersive high-tech visual spectacle that blurs the lines between the virtual and real worlds.

This Japanese presence at Coachella follows a year where the festival omitted Japanese artists from the lineup. The inclusion of YOASOBI, Hatsune Miku, and ATARASHII GAKKO! reaffirms the impact of J-pop globally. Addtionally, the festival will also feature performances from K-pop groups, LE SSERAFIM, and ATEEZ, K-rock unit The Rose, along with other emerging artists from Asia as part of the ’88Rising Futures’ sets.

Presale for Coachella 2024 festival passes begins on January 19th at 11am PT.
