Awich, hailed as the queen of Japanese hip-hop, joins the lineup for ‘Head In The Clouds New York 2024’, 88rising’s annual 2-day showcase of Asian talent.
Making her debut at this year’s festival, Awich, a pivotal figure in female empowerment within Japanese hip-hop, performed her first arena one-man live set, ‘Queendom – THE UNION-‘, at K-Arena in Yokohama last November. During the event, she addressed the crowd of 18,000 fans, expressing her ambition to conquer the international stage.
Cementing her position as one of the genre’s leading figures with her 2022 major label debut, ‘Queendom’, Awich, hailing from Okinawa, has emerged as an inspiration for fans and aspiring artists worldwide, lauded for her resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

The festival’s loaded 2024 line-up, slated for May 11th and 12th at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, includes returning acts such as ATARASHII GAKKO!, K-pop outfits (G)I-DLE and YOUNG POSSE, alongside Joji, ILLENIUM B2B Dabin, BIBI, and Balming Tiger, among others.
Organised by 88rising, the festival aims to spotlight Asian culture on a global scale. Originating in Queens in 2015, 88rising have curated events worldwide, spanning the USA, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Last year’s California lineup featured ATARASHII GAKKO!, consistent participants since joining 88rising in 2021, acclaimed UK pop artist Rina Sawayama, and YOASOBI, marking their US live debut.
In addition to music, Head in the Clouds will showcase New York’s rich Asian food culture, collaborating with small, family-owned businesses. Proceeds from the festival will aid Heart of Dinner, addressing food insecurity among Asian American elders.
Presale registration commenced on February 5th, with general sales launching on February 12th. Tickets can be purchased via the festival website.
