LOVEBITES, the all-female power metal band hailing from Tokyo, expand their long-awaited ‘THE THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE’ world tour with the announcement of a London show at the New Cross Inn on June 14th.
This addition to their tour follows their recent unveiling of the tour’s initial dates, featuring appearances at renowned festivals like Spain’s Rock Imperium Festival, France’s Hellfest, and ProgPower USA. Their tour title, inspired by the Japanese proverb ‘Ai to nikushimi wa kami hitoe’, symbolises their journey to confront perceptions as an all-female band in metal. Additionally, the tour will include the band’s biggest solo show ever, taking place on September 1st at the Tokyo Garden Theater.
In anticipation, LOVEBITES reflected on 2023 as their “Year of Resurrection”, gearing up for their first-ever world tour:
“We understand that in the world of heavy metal, where most bands consist of men dressed in black, LOVEBITES, an all-female band dressed in white, is even more of an outlier in the scene, and that some people may not respect us. That is why we want those who have shunned us in the past to see us on stage and enjoy our performance during this world tour. The proverb from which the tour title is taken originally meant that love can easily turn to hate, but we purposefully took this as a paradox and selected it for the title.
We are currently working day and night on new material, with a new release planned by the end of 2024. As such, our only full-set show in Japan this year will be at Tokyo Garden Theater on September 1st, and for that reason we want to make the show even more unforgettable than usual.”
Since their inception in 2016, LOVEBITES have become a force to be reckoned with in the metal world, achieving global acclaim for their powerful performances and intense power metal anthems. Their latest album, ‘Judgment Day’, dominated charts in Japan, while accolades like winning ‘Best New Band’ at the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards underscore their meteoric rise.
