Yuki Chiba, formerly known as KOHH, has made a triumphant return to the rap scene with his latest single, ‘Team Tomodachi’. This release signifies Chiba’s debut under his real name, following his retirement as KOHH at the end of 2021.

Dropped on February 13th, Koshy, renowned for his work with Tokushima rapper Watson, handled the beat production for ‘Team Tomodachi’. The track had already captured the attention of Japan’s rap community after being performed at live events and by DJs prior to its official release.

After retiring as KOHH at the close of 2021, Chiba has actively pursued various ventures under his real name. From contributing essays to the monthly literary magazine ‘Bungakukai’ to opening the clothing store ‘Dogs’ in his hometown, Chiba has explored a multitude of creative avenues. Notably, he directed, shot, and edited three music videos for former Tajyusaim Boyz member Yan Seku’s debut album ‘NATURAL PUNKS’.

Born as Yuki Chiba in 1990, he emerged onto Japan’s hip-hop scene as KOHH, earning widespread acclaim in 2014 with his debut album ‘MONOCHROME’. Drawing from his tumultuous upbringing in Kita, Tokyo, Chiba’s introspective lyrics and innovative style have cemented his status as a cultural icon.

By the late 2010s, Chiba began making waves internationally through notable collaborations with artists like Frank Ocean, Utada Hikaru, and Mariah Carey. His departure from the music scene in 2021 marked a transition towards quieter pursuits, but he continued to influence the landscape of hip-hop and beyond.
