NEMOPHILA, the self-described ‘soft and fluffy band from hell’, announced the departure of guitarist SAKI on March 31st due to differences in direction. As one of the five founding members, SAKI’s departure marks a significant transition for the band, which formed back in 2019.

In a heartfelt statement released on their official website, NEMOPHILA expressed gratitude to fans for their continuous support over the years. The band emphasised their commitment to continuing their musical journey with remaining members mayu (Vocals), Hazuki (Guitar), Haraguchi-san (Bass), and Murata-tamu (Drums). Despite SAKI’s departure, NEMOPHILA vows to carry forward with unwavering dedication.

Reflecting on her time with the band, SAKI expressed gratitude for the invaluable experiences and memories created during her tenure. While saddened by the decision to depart, SAKI affirmed her belief in the band’s future and pledged to support NEMOPHILA as a fan. Additionally, she expressed determination to pursue her musical endeavours as a solo guitarist.

The departure follows NEMOPHILA’s milestone performance at Nippon Budokan in February.

“Thank you for always supporting NEMOPHILA.
We are sorry to inform that the band’s guitarist, SAKI, will be leaving the band due to differences in direction. We apologize sincerely for this sudden announcement to all our fans and staff who have supported us.
For almost five years since the band formed, the five members have walked the same path as NEMOPHILA. However, when we considered the future of the band and the happiness of each member, we have come to the conclusion that it is best for us to part ways at this time.
From now on, the band members will be mayu (Vo.), Hazuki (Gt.), Haraguchi-san (Ba.), Tamu Murata (Dr.). SAKI will continue her career as a solo guitarist.
Each of us will be taking different paths, but we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the love you have shown to the music of the band thus far. We hope that you will continue to support us with unwavering love, the music by our new four-member lineup and music created by SAKI, as we move forward.”

NEMOPHILA Members / Crews

I’m sorry for the sudden and very sad news that I have to share with you.
After a milestone concert at Budokan, I feel truly sorry to have to make this announcement, especially considering how much everyone must have been waiting for exciting news. Through NEMOPHILA, we’ve had numerous wonderful experiences and created countless irreplaceable memories.
Of course, reaching the decision to leave is something very upsetting for me too. However, it seems that I have fulfilled all the roles I needed to in this place. From now on, I believe that the rest of the members will continue to grow NEMOPHILA into an even more brilliant and love-filled band.
In the future, I plan to support the band’s progress as a fan, just like everyone else, while also exploring how far I can advance as a guitarist on my own.
Also, I’m sorry that I couldn’t give you a direct farewell in the end. Thanks to everyone, I’ve been able to fulfill everything I needed to do and I’ve truly had an amazing time.
I sincerely pray for the wonderful journey ahead for the four remaining members and for even greater success in the future.

SAKI
