Underground rap trailblazer Tohji is set to make a triumphant return to London later this April as part of his ‘2024 S/S TOUR’, spanning Europe and North America.
Born in London in 1996 and emerging onto the scene via SoundCloud in 2017, Tohji has since become a prominent figure of Tokyo’s underground hip-hop scene and beyond. His sporty, supersonic style and eclectic musical influences have captured the attention of listeners worldwide, earning him recognition on platforms like NEET tokyo and in publications like Ollie.
Catapulted into the limelight by his 2019 debut mixtape, ‘Angel’, Tohji not only demonstrated chart-topping prowess but also set the stage for a career characterized by groundbreaking creativity.
As a key member of the rap group Mall Boyz and through collaborations with artists such as Bladee and Mura Masa, Tohji’s influence transcends his solo endeavors. His fusion of electro, hyperpop, and rave, has garnered a devoted following and cemented his status as one of Japan’s premier underground artists.
Now embarking on a global tour, Tohji will hit five cities across Europe, Japan, and North America. The London show, scheduled for April 24th at FIRE, promises to be a hip-hop spring highlight.
Additionally, April 12th saw the release of Tohji’s newest single, ‘Phenomeno’, blending glitchy Eurotrance synths with nods to cybernetic video game culture. It marks his debut English track, reflecting a journey through cultural crossroads.
