ASP dropped their 4th major single, ‘Black Nails’, on May 1st, along with a music video representing the two sides of ASP: intense and cute.
The title track ‘Black Nails’, a hard and fast high-energy nu-metal-tinged punk track, was composed by the unit AFJB, which includes Nara city rock unit Age Factory and Creative Drug Store beat maker JUBEE. This collaboration marks Age Factory’s second venture with a WACK group, following their work alongside BiS on their 3rd major album ‘NEVER MiND’.
Produced by Hattori Pro, the ‘Black Nails’ music video starts with the group’s intense side, featuring the members adorned in striking ‘The Craft’-esque goth attire, headbanging alongside a room of extras. It then takes a charming turn as the members don pure white lolita outfits, revealing a completely different, cute side of ASP. This juxtaposition of intense and cute aesthetics reflects ASP’s idol personas, which exist on the knife edge of sweet and cheerful, and aggressive and loud.
In conjunction with the release of ‘Black Nails’, ASP will hit the road from May 11th to September 29th for a packed 48-date tour titled ‘ASP complementation plan B’. The tour will serve as a prelude to their long-awaited solo concert, ‘We are in BUDOKAN “The floor is all ours!!”’ at Nippon Budokan on October 8th. Additionally, they will return to London as part of the line-up for ‘WACK in the UK Vol.3’ on August 28th.
