Japanese noise rock duo MELT-BANANA have announced ‘3+5’, their first full-length album in 11 years, set for release on August 23rd via their own A-Zap Records.
‘3+5’ will showcase MELT-BANANA’s signature chaotic energy, amalgamating various genres and experimental soundscapes. The album features nine tracks that fuse elements of extreme music, hyper-pop, classic punk, vintage metal, and noise. Yasuko Onuki’s hyperactive vocal delivery and Ichiro Agata’s glitchy, cyberpunk guitar work, combined with aggressive electronic sounds, promise to continue the band’s tradition of unpredictable and exciting music.
The album will be available in digital, CD, and vinyl formats. As of the announcement, no singles have been released, but the band have shared a trailer for the album on their YouTube channel.
While the meaning behind the album’s title, ‘3+5’, remains unexplained, it is speculated that the prime numbers symbolize the band’s uniqueness and independence.
