XG bring the fire in new single ‘WOKE UP’ as world tour begins

On May 21st XG (Xtraordinary Girls) dropped their latest single ‘WOKE UP’, their first all-rap track.

‘WOKE UP’ is XG’s 5th official single release to date, and comes at the start of their first ever world tour titled ‘The First HOWL’. The track is a first for the girls, who normally blend hip-hop, rap, and pop elements. Each of the seven members gets a chance to showcase their rap-game here, with all of them having their own flow and cadence. The K-pop and K-rap influence is obvious, with the group themselves being based mostly in South Korea.

The video is a visual onslaught, with members emerging through flames, flying through space, driving at hyperspeed, along with even more surreal scenes. Plus, every member’s look is on another level, with fang grills, exaggerated silhouettes, and striking makeup and nails. Cocona in particular stands out as she shaves her own head before wearing a crown made by celebrity nailist and 3D accessory maker Tomoya Nakagawa.

The limited edition of the single features 2 logo stickers, lyrics paper, random trading card, and a serial code for an online chat with XG. As well as this, a photo exhibition event will be held across various music stores in Japan featuring behind the scenes shots of the MV. The exhibition will start on Wednesday May 22nd, and end on Monday May 27th, with 3 different versions of the exhibit across different stores.

Additionally, XG have just added additional dates to their upcoming ‘‘The First HOWL’ world tour. Starting on May 18th, the first shows in Osaka and Yokohama completely sold out. Following this, the group will perform across Asia with shows in South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia. Greater China, North America, Europe, Australia, and South America legs of the tour have been confirmed, though dates are yet to be announced. Tickets for the additional dates will be available later this month via the group’s official tour website.
