Indie rockers rubens release dreamy summer single ‘Tenshi-san’

Underground indie-rockers rubens have released their new digital single ‘Tenshi-san’.

Formed in 2022, rubens are a 4-piece band hailing from Tokyo. Suddenly emerging on the Tokyo live house scene last year, the band have been attracting attention with the single ‘Kaze wo Tomenaide’ (‘Don’t Stop the Wind) released in April 2024.

Now comes the release of ‘Tenshi-san’, which features a nostalgic melody and unique groove. Vocalist and guitarist Serena’s clear sweet voice hides a slight husky undertone, leaning into dreamy territory, perfectly complementing the track. A groovy bassline from bassist Mary lifts the track, pairing with technical guitar work from guitarist Etsu. ‘Tenshi-san’ condenses a summer haze into song form.

rubens guitarist Etsu handled lyrics and composition for ‘Tenshi-san’, while the music video was directed by Rikako Kamomae from KITE Inc., who have previously worked with GLAY, Ado, and ONE OK ROCK, among many others.
