Tokyo-based pop-rock trio anklet (アンクレット) have made their debut with their first single ‘COLORS’, released digitally on July 12th. Formed in December 2023, the band features Nanami Kadowaki (guitar and vocals), Manami Okina (bass), and Haruka Kurose (drums).
‘COLORS’ marks a strong debut for anklet, with all three members contributing to the song’s lyrics. The track vividly captures the authentic emotions of their teenage years and reflects their transition from adolescence to adulthood as they approach their twenties. The single is distinguished by its precise execution and polished production, thanks to the involvement of seasoned industry professionals.
You-oh Oki of You-nison, Inc., known for his work with groups such as BiSH, ATARASHII GAKKO!, GANG PARADE, Dempagumi.inc, and ASP, oversaw the production. Satoshi Toyozumi of SCRAMBLES handled the composition and arrangement, while Hiromichi “Tucky” Takiguchi managed the mastering.
Nanami Kadowaki, who shared in an interview with Deview that she felt nervous performing on stage less than two months after picking up the guitar, leads ‘COLORS’ with a confident presence. Her early inspiration came from receiving an encore during a school music class, which ignited her passion for music. Nanami has stated that seeing live reactions from the audience is the most rewarding aspect of her work, underscoring the band’s dedication to connecting with their listeners.
Early listeners have praised anklet’s debut online for its catchy melody and the band’s genuine, energetic presentation. Their first self-organized live show, ‘First Step to Remember’, held at Shimokitazawa ReG on July 29th, marked a promising start to their live performance career.
Commenting on the band’s Shimokitazawa performance, bassist Manami Okina said on X, “We’re going to get bigger and bigger from now on!”
