JUBEE drops video for Takeshi Ueda collaboration ‘PICK UP THE PIECES’

Rapper and producer JUBEE has released the music video for ‘PICK UP THE PIECES (Mass Infection Mix)’ from his recently released second album, ‘Liberation’.

‘PICK UP THE PIECES (Mass Infection Mix)’, a cover of AA=’s 2019 track, features production by AA=’s Takeshi Ueda, whom JUBEE has long admired. Ueda, a founding member of the influential digital-hardcore band THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS, has been a major inspiration for JUBEE, making this collaboration particularly meaningful.

Directed by Oudai Kojima, the music video plays on the song’s themes of self-destruction and rebirth, depicting JUBEE hunting himself down, AK-47 in hand. JUBEE’s rapping even includes a subtle homage to ‘GAGA LIFE’ from THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS’ 2001 album ‘010’, highlighting his deep respect for Ueda’s earlier work.

The collaboration between JUBEE and Ueda came about after JUBEE reached out directly, asking to cover and rearrange the track. Ueda found this request unique, as most artists typically ask for new compositions. The production process saw Ueda providing a rough beat, with JUBEE adding his rap and re-singing the chorus, creating an intense blend of hardcore, techno, and hip-hop elements.
