ralph channels London coffeeshop tension in ‘Spliff & Magnum’ EP

ralph returns with his latest EP, ‘Spliff & Magnum’, his first release in over a year.

Known for his aggressive drill and garage sound, ralph shifts gears here, embracing a laid-back vibe that he likens to a “chill episode” in a manga—a moment of calm that still keeps you on your toes.

The four-track EP is deeply influenced by ralph’s experiences in London, particularly his time spent in a hidden coffeeshop that became the backdrop for much of his writing. The spot, difficult to find and tucked behind iron doors, had an atmosphere of relaxed tension. “There was this vibe where, even though everyone was chilling, nobody was completely off guard. It felt like if an outsider made a wrong move, they’d be in trouble fast”, ralph said in a post on X. This blend of unity and watchfulness struck a chord with ralph, shaping both the lyrics and the overall mood of the EP.

The production on Spliff & Magnum comes from ralph’s regular collaborators Double Clapperz, EGL, and D3adStock, with a guest appearance by Jamaica-based artist ZENDAMAN on ‘Grind’.

To coincide with the EP’s release, ralph has also announced the CHAIN SMOKE TOUR, set to take him across eight locations in Japan, beginning in Fukuoka on 7th September.
