Yuki Chiba joins Megan Thee Stallion in Tokyo for ‘Mamushi’ music video

Megan Thee Stallion has released the music video for her viral track ‘Mamushi’, featuring Kita born rapper Yuki Chiba.

The music video for ‘Mamushi’, named after a Japanese pit viper, pays homage to Japanese cinema. Filmed in Tokyo and starring actor Show Kasamatsu, the video depicts Chiba and Megan teaming up to take down Yakuza members by luring them into an onsen, where Megan, embodying the viper, strikes and uses them to create an army of blue-faced Ninjas—an artistic nod to Akira Kurosawa’s 1990 film Dreams. Directed by Kevin “Onda” Leyva and produced by Tokyo-based PUSH Japan, the video was shot at iconic locations, including Tsurumaki Onsen JINYA and Engaku-ji Temple.

Part of Megan’s self-titled album released in June—her first project as an independent artist—’Mamushi’ is currently the second most-listened-to track on the album on Spotify, fueled by its widespread use on TikTok. The track’s popularity has brought Yuki Chiba back into the international spotlight for the first time since retiring his KOHH persona in 2021.

Since its release, ‘Mamushi’ has topped Japan’s World Digital Song Sales chart, reached the top five on the Japan Hot Overseas chart, and reached #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With over 150 million global streams and a No. 1 spot on Spotify’s Global Viral chart in Japan, the track has quickly become one of the most successful collaborations between a Japanese and American artist in recent history. The success of ‘Mamushi’ marks a significant step in Yuki Chiba’s ongoing re-emergence in both the Japanese and global hip-hop scenes.

The video’s release further stokes the growing anticipation for Chiba’s future projects as his partnership with Megan Thee Stallion continues to gain traction worldwide.

Additionally, on August 7th, Megan released the live video of Yuki Chiba’s surprise concert closer at her London O2 Arena show on July 18th, the final show of the European leg of her ‘Hot Girl Summer Tour’.
