JUMADIBA has joined up with London-based artist SamRecks on the track ‘Better Days’, a standout from SamRecks’ recently released EP, ‘BALANCE’. The cross-cultural collaboration bridges two distinct rap scenes from Tokyo and London.
SamRecks, known for his cross genre style, reflected on the experience of working with JUMADIBA. “Japan was transformative for me!” SamRecks shared in an interview Wonderland Magazine. He spoke highly of his time in Tokyo, where the two artists filmed parts of the music video for ‘Better Days’.
“JUMADIBA and I shot a music video in a park out there for one of the tracks on the EP, and the experience was great – everyone was just so happy to help us. The culture there is amazing, from how they share food at every meal to how they interact with each other day-to-day.”
The track combines laid-back flows with a mix of introspective and playful lyrics, touching on themes of perseverance, ambition, and the artists’ day-to-day experiences, aligning well with the personal tone of SamRecks’ EP.
JUMADIBA’s distinct style, characterised by his stripped-back authentic lyricism and UK drill and grime influences, made him a fitting partner for this collaboration. His presence on the track builds on a busy year of activity. JUMADIBA has recently appeared on kZm’s album ‘DESTRUCTION’ via his breakthrough 2023 track ‘DOSHABURI’, and featured on PETZ’s ‘AIRERA’ album, on the amapiano-driven ‘You Are Mine’. He also performed at the POP YOURS 2024 festival, where his set was a highlight of the event’s opening day.
