Metalcore outfit Knosis have announced their partnership with American independent label SharpTone Records with the release of their new single, ‘FUHAI’.
The track, a ferocious blend of hardcore and metal, features a powerful guest performance from Yukina, lead vocalist of the rising Harajuku-core band HANABIE. Known for her sweet-yet-brutal style, Yukina’s presence on the track adds an all new edge to Knosis’ slim yet impactful discography.
‘FUHAI’—which translates to “corruption”—is the next big step for Knosis, a project created in 2022 by Ryo Kinoshita, former frontman of Crystal Lake, alongside co-writer and producer Yosh Morita, frontman of Survive Said The Prophet. Ryo, a celebrated multi-instrumentalist known for his intense performances, described the collaboration with Yukina as “the perfect track for this announcement”, calling her the “goddess of Japanese metalcore”.
In an Instagram story, Yosh echoed this sentiment, saying:
“From the very beginning, I had Yukina’s voice in mind when writing the lyrics for the second verse. On top of that, she finished recording the exact flow I’d imagined, perfectly, in under 30 minutes and left—it was like witnessing a goddess.”
Drawing from a wide range of influences, Ryo likened the track’s sound to a mix of “kawaii meets Machine Head meets Dying Fetus”. With a chaotic music video directed by Things.JP—known for their work with Paledusk—the new track locks in Knosis’ signature style, cementing their place on SharpTone Records with force.
