Maximum the Hormone have released the music video for ‘SHIMI’ featuring ATARASHII GAKKO!, providing fans a fresh take on a classic track.
Originally from their 2007 album ‘Bu-ikikaesu’, this new version featuring ATARASHII GAKKO! appears on the band’s June 2024 CD-only single ‘Ki-Se-I Rush’.
The video, directed by Yasuhiro Arafune and developed in collaboration with Maximum the Ryo-kun, is set in an eerie, abandoned housing complex, combining spooky imagery with Japanese religious iconography, industrial landscapes, and cement jungles. Known for their chaotic energy, Maximum the Hormone deliver another explosive performance of ‘SHIMI’, while members of ATARASHII GAKKO! get their own moments to shine—from Kanon’s take on the song’s iconic chorus to Rin’s shamisen-led rap solo. The group also add their signature choreographed moves, blending dance with the song’s fierce rhythms.
Like the video for ‘INTENT TO MURDER: INTENT TO KILL -SATSUI vs SATSUI-‘, this release features a different audio arrangement from the CD version, offering two unique listening experiences.
Released on June 19th, ‘Ki-Se-I Rush’ is available exclusively on CD and includes their newest track ‘INTENT TO MURDER’ featuring actor Toma Ikuta, as well as a cover of the fan-favourite ‘CHUCHU LOVELY MUNIMUNI MURAMURA PRINPRIN BORON NURURU RERORERO’ featuring singer ano.
