DIR EN GREY have had their latest single, ‘The Devil In Me’, tapped as the official theme for the Japanese release of Terrifier 3, titled Terifā: Seiya no Akumu (Nightmare of the Holy Night).
Released in April, ‘The Devil In Me’ aligns closely with Terrifier 3‘s unsettling tone in the film’s new promotional material. The song’s music video draws on the dark legacy of real-life serial killer John Wayne Gacy, known as the “Killer Clown”, adding a chilling connection to the film’s portrayal of Art the Clown.
Vocalist Kyo, a known fan of the horror genre, offered a tongue-in-cheek description of the collaboration:
“It’s super cute—honestly, our cutest work ever. Anyone who loves cute things will definitely find happiness in this film.”
Meanwhile, drummer Shinya admitted on X that he’s “too scared to watch” the trailer, while guitarist Kaoru warned fans, “You’re gonna get sliced up”.

Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 builds on the brutal legacy of Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton, as they take on the Christmas horror subgenre. Upon its U.S. release, the unflinching gore-fest quickly claimed the top spot in box office rankings, even surpassing high-profile releases like Joker: Folie à Deux.
The new Terrifier 3 trailer, now live on YouTube, pairs the haunting anthem from DIR EN GREY with scenes of Art the Clown’s chaos. The film is due to open in Japanese cinemas on November 29th.
