Tokyo indie rock quartet DYGL have returned with their latest EP, ‘Cut the Collar’, on October 4th. The four-track collection marks their first non-single release of 2024 and ushers in a grittier, more visceral phase in the band’s evolution.
Following 2022’s ‘Thirst’, ‘Cut the Collar’ sees DYGL returning to their live roots. Tracks like ‘Drag’ and ‘Crawl’ were road-tested on stage before hitting the studio, capturing the unfiltered energy of their shows. The EP draws heavily from their ‘90s alt-rock and punk influences, with mastering by Joe LaPorta (Sterling Sound, NYC) and production by Hiroshi Ikeda (hmc studio). Making his recording debut with the band is Kento Suzuki, DYGL’s longtime live drummer, who adds an extra punch to their rough-edged, no-frills sound.
In addition to the digital release, ‘Cut the Collar’ will be available on vinyl from December 11th, with exclusive pre-sales available at stops on their Cut the Collar Tour, which kicks off in Fukuoka on October 30th. The tour kicks off in Fukuoka on October 30 and will take the band across Japan, wrapping up at WWW X in Shibuya on December 4th.
