HOME continue to redefine Okinawa indie scene with sophomore EP ‘HOME EP2’

Okinawa’s indie trio HOME dropped their latest EP‘HOME EP2’ today (October 16th), following up on the success of their 2023 debut.

Their self-titled debut EP drew praise for its eclectic mix of doo-wop harmonies and dreamy synths, but ‘HOME EP2’ pushes those boundaries even further. The release fuses city pop, 80s R&B, new romantic, and funk grooves with experimental guitar work into a tight, 21-minute, five-track set, while still nodding to the nostalgic indie pop of their debut.

To mark the release of their new EP, HOME premiered the live video for ‘Still Dreaming’, directed by Dai Sato, who’s worked alongside acts like never young beach and Yogee New Waves.

Formed in 2020 by vocalist seigetsu, guitarist shun, and o-png on electronics, the trio’s sound has always set them apart from the typical Okinawan music scene, which leans heavily into hip-hop and local folk influences. Their mix of new wave and alternative pop has been described as an “evolutionary anomaly” in a region better known for traditional sounds.

Additionally, the band will headline their one-man live shows, ‘HOME PARTY ’24 FALL’, in Osaka on November 6th and Tokyo on November 8th, joined by guest DJs eijin and George Bolton.
