About NIGHTMARE

NIGHTMARE formed in 2000 in their hometown of Sendai. Starting as a cover band, they eventually began to write their own material. They made their major debut in 2003 with the single ‘-Believe-‘. In 2006 their double single ‘The WORLD/Alumina’ was chosen as the opening and ending themes for the anime adaptation of DEATH NOTE. This launched them further, and garnered attention from overseas fans hearing them for the first time. The band made their Budokan debut in 2007, and continued releasing albums and playing shows until 2016 where they went on indefinite hiatus.

Multiple members began their own projects, including Ruka’s The LEGENDARY SIX NINE, and Hitsugi’s GREMLINS. Notably, NIGHTMARE also have a long running comedic side project called Sendai Kamotsu. In 2020, NIGHTMARE returned and celebrated their 20th anniversary. ‘NOX:LUX’, their first album in 7 years, released in 2022. The band have continued playing shows, and releasing new material since then. Maintaining the same lineup since 2001, the band are Yomi (vo.), Hitsugi (gt.), Sakito (gt.), Ni~ya (ba.), and Ruka (dr.).
