ano-led punk outfit I’s announce last single ‘Past die Future’ ahead of year-end disbandment

The punk band I’s, led by popular soloist ano, are set to release their final single, ‘Past die Future’, in a fittingly bittersweet farewell ahead of their planned disbandment at the close of 2024.

This release also marks the band’s major debut under Toy’s Factory, following their August announcement of the disbandment. The single, available digitally from November 18th, includes three tracks: the title track, a drama edit, and an instrumental version.

A physical release of ‘Past die Future’ will follow on December 4th as a three-disc set, featuring two CDs and a Blu-ray. This edition includes live audio and video from I’s final solo concert on August 31st at Shimokitazawa SHELTER—the same venue where the band first debuted in 2021. The live set captures fan favourites like ‘DON’t COMMIT SUICIDE’ and ‘Boku no haru’, concluding with an encore performance of the emotionally charged ‘Happy Endroll’.

‘Past die Future’, written and composed by ano, also doubles as the theme song for the fourth episode of the upcoming Amazon and Toei live-action adaptation of hit supernatural mystery anime Oshi no Ko, where ano appears as Mem-Cho. Cover art for the single is provided by collage artist Kousuke Kawamura, who has previously collaborated with ano on her solo projects.

About I’s

Formed in 2021 by vocalist ano, I’s emerged as a creative outlet distinct from the members’ primary careers. Alongside ano, the lineup includes guitarist Takuya Nakayama, bassist Ryuki ‘Kitchen’ Maeda, and drummer Ryota Unebasami. The band officially launched on August 14th, 2021, with the music video for their sugary hardcore punk track ‘Kill Me Baby’. They quickly gained traction, debuting with a show at Shimokitazawa SHELTER and the release of their EP ‘DON’t COMMIT SUICIDE’. Signed to the indie label Nyang Nyang Records, I’s became known for overwhelming live performances and a steady release schedule, including the single ‘Analog Memory’ (2022) and their final EP ‘Eternal Impulse’ (2023), solidifying their presence in Japan’s punk scene.
