BUCK-TICK start new chapter with symbolic music video for ‘Raijin Fujin – Resonance’

BUCK-TICK have shared the music video for ‘Raijin Fujin – Resonance’ (雷神 風神 – レゾナンス), their first release since the death of frontman Atsushi Sakurai in October 2023. The single, nnow available on streaming platforms and in physical formats, serves as the lead track from their forthcoming album ‘SUBROSA’, out December 4th.

‘Raijin Fujin – Resonance’ signals the start of “Phase 2” in BUCK-TICK’s storied career. Guitarists Hisashi Imai and Hidehiko Hoshino take on vocal duties, their harmonies layered over a pulsating instrumental driven by Imai. Blending elements of glam rock, psychedelic rock, and post-punk with experimental flourishes, the track is both a tribute to the past and a leap into the future.

Directed by Kazuki Gotanda, the music video is steeped in symbolism. Set in a shadowy, vacant room, it opens with Hisashi Imai unlocking a door, hinting at a new chapter for the band. The performance scenes revolve around an empty space, reflecting Sakurai’s absence, while scattered lab equipment nods to experimentation. As the video progresses, stark lighting shifts to vibrant hues and psychedelic collages. The final shot of five flickering candles brings another powerful tribute to Sakurai, closing the video with a sense of reflection and reverence.

The single release, featuring a B-side remix by PASOCOM MUSIC CLUB, is available in limited-edition formats that include the music video on Blu-ray or DVD, exclusive packaging, and collectible extras.

‘Raijin Fujin – Resonance’ sets the stage for ‘SUBROSA’, an album that promises to carry the emotional weight of Sakurai’s legacy while forging new ground for the band. BUCK-TICK has also announced a nationwide tour starting April 12th, 2025, following their sold-out year-end concert at the Nippon Budokan on December 29th.

BUCK-TICK has also announced an exclusive, invitation-only live performance on March 23rd, 2025, at an undisclosed location in Tokyo. Fans can apply for entry by purchasing any physical edition of the single or upcoming album. Each release includes a serial number required for the lottery, with applications open from December 4th, 2024, through February 7th, 2025. Winners will receive details of the venue and event.
