L’Arc-en-Ciel bring Shibuya demolition site to life in ‘YOU GOTTA RUN’ music video

L’Arc-en-Ciel have released the music video for their latest single, ‘YOU GOTTA RUN’. The track, which serves as the opening theme for TV Tokyo’s anime Beyblade X, marks the band’s first new release in three years.

Filmed in September, the video takes place at the demolition site of Shibuya’s former Tokyu Department Store, a central location in the ongoing Shibuya Upper West Project. This redevelopment, expected to complete in 2027, provided a rare and dramatic setting for the shoot, featuring a specially constructed circular floating structure and stage.

The production enlisted hundreds of participants, including dancers and extras from the band’s fan club, for an elaborate performance filmed against the urban skyline. Aerial footage captured by drones further amplifies the scale of the visuals, showcasing L’Arc-en-Ciel’s performance in the heart of the evolving Shibuya district, with futuristic masked dancers and an audience dressed entirely in black.

The shoot itself caught the attention of Shibuya’s passersby, with the sounds of the band echoing through the streets. Many stopped to investigate, capturing video and photos that quickly spread across social media, adding to the anticipation surrounding the release.

Additionally, a collaboration video merging ‘YOU GOTTA RUN’ with scenes from Beyblade X has also been made available on YouTube.

This release precedes the band’s upcoming live events, L’Arc-en-Ciel LIVE 2025 hyde BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION -hyde Tanjousai-, set to take place at Tokyo Dome on January 18th and 19th, 2025. Pre-sale tickets for fan club members open November 25th, with general sales beginning December 2nd.
