Sick New World 2025 cancelled, halting DIR EN GREY’s US festival comeback

Sick New World 2025 has been abruptly cancelled, with organisers attributing the decision to “unforeseen circumstances”. This brings an abrupt halt to the one-day event originally slated for April 12th at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

The cancellation comes a month after the announcement of a high-profile line-up featuring Metallica, Linkin Park, Queens of the Stone Age, Evanescence, and Japanese metal veterans DIR EN GREY. The event would have marked DIR EN GREY’s first US festival performance since SXSW in 2006.

DIR EN GREY’s team addressed the cancellation via social media, expressing their regret to fans. Refunds for tickets purchased through Front Gate Tickets are being processed automatically, according to the festival’s official statement.

Sick New World debuted in 2023 as a platform for nu-metal and alternative rock, growing in scope to incorporate a wider range of rock and metal acts by its 2025 line-up. Rumours of Sick New World being cancelled circulated earlier this week before being officially confirmed by organisers.
