Yuki Chiba has dropped his new single, ‘Dareda?’ (‘Who?’), the rapper’s first digital release since February’s viral hit ‘Team Tomodachi’.
Filmed during Chiba’s trip to New York for the 2024 MTV VMAs, the music video offers a behind-the-scenes look at the buzz surrounding his history-making performance. Chiba became the first Japanese artist to take to the VMAs’ main stage on September 12th, joining Megan Thee Stallion for mammoth collab track ‘Mamushi’, which snagged the Best Trending Video award the same night. The video for ‘Dareda?’ also captures Chiba’s downtime in the city, including a stop at Chinatown’s popular Dim Sum Go Go with comedian, actor, and fashion designer Naomi Watanabe, who moved to the States in 2021.

In ‘Dareda?’, Chiba sticks to his usual style: straightforward lyrics and an effortless delivery focused on confidence and self-expression. He even throws in a nod to One Piece on the bars, “My friends say, ‘You’re like Luffy, Chiba’, riding high waves, traveling with my crew”, comparing his journey with the anime’s fearless, loyal hero. The track keeps it grounded, letting Chiba’s natural style take the spotlight. Production credits go to BACEFACE, Frankie Waterz, 8oh8, and JayUncut, with mixing by Leslie Brathwaite.
This single follows Chiba’s September release, ‘Jameson Ginger’. The unexpected, enka-inspired track is only available on 7” vinyl or through its music video on YouTube.
