YOASOBI to mark 30 years of PlayStation with fan-inspired song

YOASOBI have teamed up with PlayStation to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1994 console with “Project: MEMORY CARD”. The collaboration invites fans to share their most nostalgic gaming memories, which will serve as the basis for a brand-new song from the hit duo.

The project asks fans to reflect on games they’d love to replay as if experiencing them for the first time. Using the hashtag #記憶を消してもう一度やりたいゲーム (#GamesIWantToReplayWithErasedMemories), fans can submit their stories on social media. YOASOBI will use these submissions as the creative foundation for an upcoming track, though the project’s release date has yet to be announced.

In a video message, YOASOBI’s Ayase, who shares his birth year with the original PlayStation, reminisced about his own gaming past, tying the project’s nostalgic theme to the iconic memory card. PlayStation also released a commemorative visual inspired by the hardware, driving home the campaign’s retro vibes.

Additionally, PlayStation Japan have curated a Spotify playlist of YOASOBI hits and tracks from the console’s three-decade history. From December 2nd to 8th, Tokyo’s Shinagawa Station will feature celebratory videos across 44 screens, showcasing iconic moments from PlayStation’s legacy.
