DEVILOOF to release 'INSHU', their "most brutal song to date"

DEVILOOF to release ‘INSHU’, their “most brutal song to date”

Osaka deathcore visual kei band DEVILOOF have announced their new digital single, ‘INSHU’ (‘Tradition’), set for release on January 29th. Coinciding with their 10th anniversary, the track is the band’s first new material in just over a year.

Describing the release on social media, the band stated:

“DEVILOOF are going back to our roots. We will even transcend our roots. The band’s most brutal song to date will rewrite the history of extreme metal.”

Frontman Keisuke also shared his thoughts on social media, highlighting the band’s commitment to every aspect of the project:

“I’ve thought it through until my brain was boiling. Not just the music—there’s no compromise on the artwork, the music video, the costumes, and everything else. Along with what I want to express, I finally feel like everything DEVILOOF should be doing has truly come together in our 10th year. Look forward to it.”

Taking inspiration from traditional village societies and their deeply rooted customs, ‘INSHU’ sees DEVILOOF pushing their technical abilities further than ever before. The band dedicated a year to developing the track, refining complex arrangements and introducing new elements to expand their sound. The single features vocals from Sennzai, a singer and lyricist known for her versatile vocal range and distinctive falsetto, whose contribution adds an unsettling layer to the track’s ominous atmosphere.

Visual artist Yukihisa Tamura, known for his gore-inspired style, created the cover artwork for ‘INSHU’, basing his hand-painted acrylic design on lyrics by vocalist Keisuke. Tamura, whose work explores grotesque and visceral themes, previously received the Vanilla Award at Tokyo’s Vanilla Gallery—an underground space in Ginza renowned for showcasing gothic and avant-garde art.

A music video for ‘INSHU’ has also been produced, which the band promises will match the song’s brutality, making it one of DEVILOOF’s most intense visual releases yet.

DEVILOOF will support the release with a series of live dates, starting with Dera Rock Festival 2025 on February 1st in Nagoya. They’ll then hit Kobe and Tokyo for the DEVI BATTLE TOUR with AILIFDOPA, followed by DEVI BATTLE vol.14 featuring HANABIE. at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO on February 21st. Additional appearances include DEX FEST -2025- in Nagoya on March 29th and a slot on Swedish progressive death metal band Humanity’s Last Breath’s Japan tour in Osaka on April 15th.
