ONE OK ROCK unleash ‘DETOX’—A soundtrack for a fractured world

ONE OK ROCK drop ‘DETOX’, their 11th studio album and first full-length release in nearly three years. The album coincides with the band’s 20th anniversary and sees them leaning back into their rock roots.

Spanning 11-tracks, ‘DETOX’ is stacked with acclaimed producer credits including Grammy-winner Rob Cavallo and Grammy nominees Dan Lancaster and Pete Nappi. Among them are recent singles ‘+Matter’, ‘Puppets Can’t Control You’, ‘Delusion:All’, and ‘Dystopia’, which explore themes of society’s complacency toward global crises, modern politics, and humanity’s increasingly fraught relationship with technology.

Leaning into Rock, Letting Go of Pop

Aimed at a world in turmoil, ‘DETOX’ sees ONE OK ROCK returning to a more rock-driven sound, moving away from the pop influences of 2019’s ‘Eye of the Storm’ and 2022’s ‘Luxury Disease’. Opening with ‘NASTY’, a swaggering, full-throttle track that straddles rebellion and excess, the album navigates a range of styles—from the escapist anthem ‘Tropical Therapy’, to the explosive ‘C.U.R.I.O.S.I.T.Y.’, a fusion of post-hardcore and rap featuring Okinawan rapper CHICO CARLITO and metalcore outfit Paledusk.

Paledusk’s involvement stands out as the album’s only band feature, bringing their experi-metal sound into ONE OK ROCK’s world. Vocalist KAITO appears on ‘C.U.R.I.O.S.I.T.Y.’, while guitarist DAIDAI co-wrote and produced the track. DAIDAI’s contributions extend further across ‘DETOX’, co-writing and producing ‘Puppets Can’t Control You’ and providing additional production on ‘+Matter’.

Released alongside the album, the ‘Tropical Therapy’ music video takes a stripped-down, black-and-white approach, focusing on the song’s emotions. The visuals reinforce its escapist theme, contrasting the weight of reality with the longing for freedom.

DETOX Tours Announced

To support the release, ONE OK ROCK will take their DETOX tour across America, starting in Latin America this April. They will then head to North America in May and June. Additionally, the band recently announced stadium and dome shows across Japan in August and September. Stops include Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa and Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka.
