Metal visual kei band DAMNED have dropped their 5th official music video, ‘Suikyou to majiwaru kyouhakuteki kachikan’. The video was released via YouTube on January 31st with the single release due later this month.
‘Suikyou to majiwaru kyouhakuteki kachikan’ (‘Obsessive values intersect with insanity’) is a 6 minute metal epic. Vocalist Hitone shows off his vocal range, from the deepest of growls, to the highest of howls; fans of DIR EN GREY will want to hear this. Drummer Masaya’s impeccable drumming keeps the beat heavy and undulating, while guitarist Suica injects a haunting vibe with acoustic segments. And in true metalcore fashion, the track features a huge drop, followed by call and response screams from Hitone and the other members.
The music was written by guitarist Kou., and the lyrics were penned by Hitone. The video, shot at what appears to be some kind of abandoned factory, with nature taking over, has a somewhat sinister feeling.
Additionally, to coincide with the music video release, DAMNED revealed their new looks.
DAMNED will also be heading out on their Japan 5-major cities oneman tour in July, titled GARGANTUA. Starting on July 17th, the band will perform across Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Sapporo. The tour will wrap up on September 22nd at Shibuya WWW to coincide with the band’s 3rd anniversary.
Plus, on February 7th, they will perform a 3-man show alongside Japan’s NETH PRIERE CAIN, and South Korea’s Madmans Esprit. The concert is a birthday celebration for Hitone, and will be held at Shibuya Kinmirai Kaikan. Tickets are available now via eplus (Japan only), or on the door at the venue.
About DAMNED
DAMNED are a metal visual kei band, formed in September 2022, with the concept of “visual kei loudcore”. They formed from project band VELTRO, and were made up of vocalist Keigo, guitarists Kou. and You, bassist Sakura, and drummer Masaya. In August 2023, You left the band with no official reason given publicly, followed by Keigo, citing different points of view for the future. The band continued with support members for several months. In January 2024 Hitone (vo.), and Suica (gt.) joined DAMNED. Since then, the group have gone from strength to strength, performing at various VK events, and releasing several standout singles including ‘Thanatosis’ and ‘STAIN’.
