Awich leads a cross-continent rap cypher with ‘ASIAN STATE OF MIND’—Watch now

Awich brings together some of Asia’s biggest rap names for her latest release, ‘ASIAN STATE OF MIND’. The cypher track features Jay Park (South Korea), KR$NA (India), Higher Brothers’ Masiwei (China), and VannDa (Cambodia)—a rare collaboration between top-tier hip-hop representatives from across the continent.

Built around a central question, “What you do it for?”, each rapper delivers verses reflecting their personal journeys, national identities, and impact on hip-hop in their respective countries.

Awich opens with a verse tying her Okinawan roots, motherhood, and leadership in Japanese hip-hop into the song’s larger theme of unity. Jay Park follows, reflecting on his influence in Korea and Japan while emphasizing his independence and business acumen.

Meanwhile, KR$NA, rapping in Hindi, asserts India’s growing presence in global rap, while Masiwei, delivering his verse in Mandarin, likens his career to constructing the Great Wall. VannDa closes in Khmer, addressing decolonization and resilience while positioning Cambodia within the larger movement of Asian hip-hop.

Its final chant, “We coming deep from the East”, serves as a collective statement, asserting Asian hip-hop’s global presence. The music video, released on February 28th, has already surpassed 1 million views.

Alongside the release, Awich called on fans to support Asian hip-hop as a collective. “Let’s unite and shake up the world as one Asia! Asking every fan to support and follow all the artists from here—WE ALL RISE,” she wrote.

Following a year that saw Awich contribute music to hit shows Shangri-La Frontier and The Queen of Villains, ‘ASIAN STATE OF MIND’ further extends her influence beyond Japan. It also follows ‘6 Years In The Game’, her 2024 collaboration with VannDa. That track marked their first team-up and helped connect the hip-hop scenes of Japan and Cambodia.
