HARU NEMURI has officially announced her third full-length album, ‘ekkolaptómenos’, set for release on August 1st. The Tokyo-based artist pushes into new creative territory with this self-produced record—her first since going independent and launching her own label of the same name in January.
A teaser video, released on March 1st, offers a first glimpse into the album’s sound, previewing an as-yet-untitled track. Alongside this shift, NEMURI has debuted a cropped haircut, visually marking this new era. Sharing the new promotional photos on social media, she highlighted the statement behind her outfit, writing:
“I’m a riot grrrl who dyed a ghillie suit in pink and made it useless for war anymore”

The album title, derived from the Greek ekkolápto (to hatch) and modified with a middle-voice suffix, reflects themes of transformation and rebirth. As NEMURI describes it, ekkolaptómenos captures both breaking free and being set free, destruction and renewal happening simultaneously—concepts that have long underscored her music.
While details on the tracklist and full artistic direction remain under wraps, hints point to a fusion of ritualistic synth textures, grand brass orchestration, and powerful beatwork. NEMURI, known for her intense spoken-word performances and rapid-fire delivery, shifts her focus toward melody, weaving ethereal choral harmonies into her signature vocal grit.
