Osaka visual kei band Royz have revealed the video for ‘TRANSFORM’, their 28th single, due for release on March 12th. The video premiered on March 1st.
The track opens out as one of Royz’ heavier tracks with a relentless drum beat, electronic screeches, and a driving guitar lick that wouldn’t be out of place in a Slipknot song. Vocalist Subaru goes for grittier, harsh vocals, switching to a clean melody for the bridge. Then, into the chorus, a positive and hopeful sound appears, with the band’s signature melodic sound shining through. The track rounds out with Subaru declaring “We live the way we want” and “Don’t give a f**k what others think”.
‘TRANSFORM’ has been teased since January, with Subaru dropping sneak peaks on his Instagram stories. In the early hours of January 17th he posted to his story saying:
“…tomorrow we’ll be shooting the music video for ‘TRANSFORM’. It’s a super intense track, so please look forward to it. When I imagine everyone enjoying it, an infinite amount of strength wells up inside me. I seriously always believe that I can become anything. Thank you. From tomorrow onwards, don’t you dare die.”
‘TRANSFORM’ will be available across streaming platforms and on CD from March 12th. The CD release will receive 3 versions- A type, B type, and C type.
- A type: includes 2nd track ‘Junjou Cat Line’, and DVD with the ‘TRANSFORM’ music video and making of.
- B type: includes 2nd track ‘Junjou Cat Line’, and live DVD filmed at their tour final at Kawasaki CLUB CITTA′ on January 16th 2025.
- C type: features ‘TRANSFORM’, ‘Junjou Cat Line’, bonus track ‘Monster March’, and instrumental versions of the 3 songs.
Additionally, Royz will be heading out on a 34-date Japan nationwide tour, starting March 15th. The tour, titled Genei Toshi kara Ai wo Komete (From the Phantom City with Love), will have 2 parts; FORM I and FORM II. The FORM I tour final will be held on April 19th at Zepp Shinjuku. The grand final will be held on September 26th at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA, coinciding with the band’s 16th anniversary.
