AiNA THE END to perform DAN DA DAN Season 2 opening; preview revealed in new PV

AiNA THE END will perform the DAN DA DAN season 2 opening theme, titled ‘On the Way’. The series returns to Crunchyroll and Netflix on July 3rd, with the song set for digital release a day earlier on July 2nd.

Written and composed by AiNA in collaboration with producer Shin Sakiura, ‘On the Way’, or ‘Kakumei Dōchū’ (‘革命道中’) in Japanese, builds on the pair’s previous work on themes for Henna Ie (‘Frail’) and The Reluctant Preacher (‘Aria’). Built around a tense melody and restless pacing, the track channels the series’ mix of teenage panic, weird phenomena, and sudden emotional gut-punches.

Adapted from Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga on Shonen Jump+, DAN DA DAN follows high schoolers Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, nicknamed Okarun, as they navigate clashes between the occult and spiritual realms. The second promotional video, released alongside the theme announcement, previews the song with new footage that includes a battle between Okarun and a mysterious antagonist.

In a statement, AiNA commented:

“This is AiNA THE END.
I had the opportunity to write the opening theme ‘Kakumei Dōchū’ for DAN DA DAN Season 2. I’ve truly loved both the original manga and the first season, so I’m very happy to have been given this chance. In ‘Kakumei Dōchū’, I poured into the music the feeling of charging forward and fighting to protect what’s precious, all while holding onto a sentimental love.
It reflects the emotional states of Momo and Okarun, and it’s also become a song that I hope can give a push to those feeling lost. I really love this song.”

‘Kakumei Dōchū‘ also shares its name with AiNA’s upcoming solo tour, which begins in October and will visit nine cities across Japan. Following her departure from WACK in March and her move to Avex Music Creative in April, the song represents both a creative and personal statement for the former BiSH star.

The second season of DAN DA DAN premieres on July 3rd, airing on 28 stations across Japan and streaming worldwide via Netflix and Crunchyroll. A preview of AiNA THE END’s DAN DA DAN season 2 opening theme, ‘On the Way’, is now available in the anime’s second promotional video on YouTube.
