D’ESPAIRSRAY announce reunion for first live performance in over a decade at CROSS ROAD Fest

Visual kei icons D’ESPAIRSRAY will reunite for a special appearance at CROSS ROAD Fest 2025, their first full live performance since disbanding in 2011.

The band—vocalist HIZUMI, guitarist Karyu, bassist ZERO, and drummer TSUKASA—will take the stage on the opening day of the two-day festival, held November 15th–16th at Makuhari Messe Event Hall in Chiba. While they made a brief appearance in 2014 as unannounced guests at Angelo’s THE INTERSECTION OF DOGMA, this will be their first scheduled set in over a decade.

Joining them across the two day festival are other beloved visual kei acts including La’cryma Christi, SHAZNA, Psycho le Cému, PENICILLIN, LM.C, and more. Ticket lottery registration is open now via Lawson Ticket until May 19th. General sales begin August 23rd through Ticket Pia, Lawson Ticket, and ePlus. Single-day tickets are priced at ¥14,000, with two-day passes available for ¥25,000.

Coinciding with the announcement, D’ESPAIRSRAY also relaunched their official website, prompting speculation among fans about future plans.

About D’ESPAIRSRAY

D’ESPAIRSRAY formed in 1999 and became one of visual kei’s most influential acts of the 2000s, known for their mix of industrial metal, gothic rock, and dark, theatrical visuals. The band’s lineup—HIZUMI (vocals), Karyu (guitar), ZERO (bass), and TSUKASA (drums)—remained unchanged throughout their career, releasing four studio albums and touring internationally at a time when overseas activity was rare for Japanese bands.

They were among the first visual kei artists to tour both Europe and North America, performing at events like Wacken Open Air in 2006, Taste of Chaos 2008 in the US, and Jrock Revolution in Los Angeles. Their discography includes Coll:set (2005), Mirror (2007), Redeemer (2009), and Monsters (2010), each release pushing their sound into darker and more ambitious territory.

The band entered hiatus in 2010 due to HIZUMI’s vocal cord condition and officially disbanded the following year. Since then, the members have remained active: HIZUMI with the band NUL. and as a designer; Karyu with Angelo and H.U.G; ZERO and TSUKASA with THE MICRO HEAD 4N’S and side project OFIAM. Karyu, ZERO, and TSUKASA are also part of the revived Luv PARADE with defspiral vocalist TAKA. TSUKASA also performs enka under the name Tsukasa Mogamigawa.

D’ESPAIRSRAY last reunited briefly in 2014 for a surprise appearance at Angelo’s THE INTERSECTION OF DOGMA. Their scheduled performance at CROSS ROAD Fest 2025 marks their first full live show in 14 years.
