New Kroi single ‘Method’ named opening theme for SAKAMOTO DAYS Part 2

Tokyo-based five-piece Kroi have announced their upcoming single ‘Method’, opening theme for SAKAMOTO DAYS Part 2, which airs worldwide via Netflix from July 14th. As their first new release of 2025, the track was written specifically for the series and arrives as a CD single on July 16th.

Based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki, SAKAMOTO DAYS follows former hitman Taro Sakamoto as he protects his quiet family life from an escalating wave of violence. The anime, produced by TMS Entertainment, continues to attract a wide audience, having surpassed 8 million manga copies in circulation.

Kroi, known for their genre-hybrid approach grounded in R&B, funk, and rock, aimed to reflect the narrative’s tension in the composition. In a statement, the band said:

“As soon as we read the original SAKAMOTO DAYS manga, we were immediately drawn into its world. The second cour we’re involved with features many scenes that we personally love, so we’re truly happy to be part of it through the opening theme. As the contrast between daily life and combat becomes even more pronounced in the second cour, we thought about how to express that musically. While conveying a lively, everyday atmosphere, we intentionally slipped in just a hint of unease through certain phrases to add a sense of tension. If the song creates a moment where listeners recognise the importance of protecting ordinary days or notice the happiness within them, that would mean a lot to us. We hope you listen to it a lot.”

Previewed in the anime’s latest promotional video, ‘Method’ sports a crisp rhythmic backbone and layered instrumentation echoing the arc’s escalating tension.

The single will be released in three physical formats. The Blu-ray and DVD editions will include a full recording of Kroi’s first arena concert—Kroi Live Tour 2024–2025 “Unspoil”—held this February at PIA ARENA MM in Yokohama.

The band announced the new single just one day before their UK live debut at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, where they’ll take part in two IRORI Records showcases during the 4-day event.

Kroi’s upcoming schedule includes two acoustic shows in June and a hall tour across seven cities in Japan beginning in August. In January 2026, the band will perform at Osaka-jo Hall and Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Gymnasium for their first arena tour.
