RADWIMPS unveil three-part short film for new single ‘Tamamono’

RADWIMPS have released the video for their latest single ‘Tamamono’, now available on YouTube. Written as the theme for NHK’s current morning drama Anpan, the track is the band’s first new release in over 18 months.

Visual artist and graphic designer MESS directs the video, structuring it as a three-part short film. Rooted in the themes of Anpan—which traces the life of Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase (Takumi Kitamura of DISH//) and his wife Nobuo Komatsu (Mio Imada)—the visuals portray the rhythms of ordinary life set against personal and historical upheaval.

The track, first developed in May 2024, took shape over six months and arrives ahead of RADWIMPS’ 20th anniversary since their major label debut. Speaking on its creation, Noda called it a response to “taking on challenges and venturing into the unknown”, describing the arrangement as deliberately wide in emotional scope.

RADWIMPS released ‘Tamamono’ digitally on April 18th, and the track currently serves as the theme for NHK’s Anpan, which began airing on March 31st.

In addition to the single, RADWIMPS have confirmed a series of vinyl reissues. The campaign begins with Batsu to Maru to Tsumi to’ on May 7th, followed by ‘Zettai Zetsumei’ on June 4th. Additional titles will be released monthly through to September.

‘Tamamono’ is now streaming on all major platforms.
