Ako has released her new digital single ‘MOVE MOVE’, opening theme for the second cour of TV anime Me and the Alien MuuMuu. Released July 9th, the track represents Ako’s first work specifically written and produced for an anime project.
‘MOVE MOVE’ kicks off with surf rock-inspired, pitch-shifted guitars before settling into a hazy pop groove. Ako casts love as a journey through an indifferent universe, describing longing as a search for connection in a vast “galaxy”, a fitting match for the anime’s offbeat sci-fi comedy.
The accompanying music video, now streaming on YouTube, mixes live-action with clay animation. Directed by New York-based clay animator Robin Pak, it follows Ako as an extraterrestrial traveler arriving on Earth in search of a cat, encountering oddities along the way. The blend of visual styles gives the video a playful charm that matches both the song’s tone and the anime’s surreal humor.

Me and the Alien MuuMuu, based on Hiroki Miyashita’s manga, is a self-described “super spectacular × home appliance × nyan-comedy”. The series follows MuuMuu, a cat-shaped alien whose species lost its scientists and engineers in a planetary war. To recover lost knowledge, MuuMuu travels to Earth and crash-lands in the apartment of college student Sakurako Umeyashiki, where he begins studying everyday household appliances.
