Fukuro serve up human flesh in ‘Smells Like Human Diner’, reveal ‘Utopia’ Mini-Album
Jazz rock visual kei act Fukuro have released their latest digital single ‘Smells Like Human Diner’. The band have also announced the upcoming release of the mini-album ‘Utopia’.
Having just finished their first European tour, Fukuro don’t seem to be slowing down. On July 31st, ‘Smells Like Human Diner’ released digitally, along with a music video. The song, with lyrics by vocalist Yoshiatsu and music by pianist Daisuke, maintains Fukuro’s signature spooky cabaret vibes with lyrics like “Let’s say goodbye over human flesh soup” sang happily over an upbeat jazz rock melody.
Set in a circus-like dining room, the video features Fukuro being served suspicious looking foods and discussing who should try it, before each tucking into the disgusting dishes. As the title suggests, the foods contain human flesh, with fingers, eyeballs, and undiscernible viscera garnishing it all. Insert shots of a puppet, and paper figures of the members dancing toward a circus restaurant in a forest are scattered throughout.
Along with ‘Smells Like Human Diner’, Fukuro revealed new visuals. This time they have opted for a more colourful look, aside Yoshiatsu in his black and white get-up, leaning further into Pierrot territory with billowing sleeves and bigger tear drop makeup.
The band also revealed their upcoming mini-album, ‘Utopia’, scheduled for release on November 5th. Fukuro will hold a small one-man tour to celebrate the launch. On November 5th they’ll perform at Holiday Next Nagoya, Shinsaibashi Beyond on November 6th, and Wild Side Tokyo on November 14th.
