DEXCORE have announced that bassist TO-RU has died. The news was confirmed in a statement released by the band and their label Jellyfish on September 22nd, revealing that he passed on September 19th.
In their message, the band wrote:
“This sudden event has left the members and all parties involved unable to fully come to terms with it, and we are overwhelmed with deep sadness.
However, with the thought of TO-RU, who always said with pride, “I’m a member, but also DEXCORE’s biggest fan”, and with the desire he carried to “rock a huge venue!”, we are determined to keep moving forward without stopping our activities.”
The statement added that TO-RU’s funeral was held privately at the request of his family, and asked fans and media to refrain from speculation.

News of his passing comes shortly after DEXCORE cancelled three scheduled performances, including dates in Tokyo and Kawasaki, citing “various circumstances”.
TO-RU rejoined DEXCORE in January 2023, having previously played with the band before his departure in 2020. His return completed the current trio with vocalist kagami and guitarist Yumeto, stabilising the line-up after a turbulent period that saw other members exit with little notice.
In that time, the band have kept their place as one of Japan’s most distinctive metalcore groups, defined by extreme breakdowns, brutal deathcore passages, and melodic hooks.
