The music video for Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada’s collaboration track ‘JANE DOE’ has been released on YouTube. The song, written and composed by Yonezu, with Utada joining as co-vocalist, serves as the ending theme to Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, now showing in Japanese cinemas.
Directed by longtime collaborator Tomokazu Yamada, the video sets Yonezu and Utada on opposite sides of a bench at a near-empty train platform. Both dressed in black, they remain silent as commuters come and go, their distance hinting at connection without contact. The setting plays on the fleeting encounters of public spaces, where people cross paths only momentarily before heading in different directions. Yamada, who has previously directed on Yonezu’s ‘Lemon’ and Utada’s ‘Mine or Yours’, described the concept as “the collision of galaxies”, capturing what he called an “eternal-like moment in a place that is neither light nor darkness”.
The arrival of ‘JANE DOE’ continues Yonezu’s connection with the Chainsaw Man franchise, following his now certified Platinum 2022 anime opening ‘KICK BACK’. Both ‘JANE DOE’ and the film’s main theme ‘IRIS OUT’ will feature on the new double A-side single ‘IRIS OUT / JANE DOE’, due September 24th through Sony Music Labels.
First-print editions of the CD include serial numbers for advance ticket access to Yonezu’s 2026 Japan tour, 2026 TOUR / GHOST.
