ZUTOMAYO and ATLUS have collaborated on a mashup version of ZUTUMAYO single ‘Hippocampal Pain’ and Persona 3 Reload battle theme ‘Mass Destruction’. Titled ‘Hippocampal Pain x Mass Destruction -Reload- Mashup’, it was revealed on February 1st with a special animated music video.
The ZUTOMAYO track dropped as a single in August of 2024, and the video has amassed over 10 million views. Persona 3 Reload released in February 2024, the remix of ‘Mass Destruction’ featuring as the game’s normal battle theme. The battle track, originally composed by Shoji Meguro, and performed by Lotus Juice and Yumi Kawamura, has seen multiple iterations over the years, with the Reload version featuring vocalist Azumi Takahashi.
The mashup is a surprise for fans of both, with the video pulling at some heartstrings as we see main character Makoto dancing away with ZUTOMAYO character Nira-chan, and band mascots Uniguri-kun and Shogast, from the original ‘Hippocampal Pain’ video. Fans will spot iconic locations from Persona 3 through the video, including Iwatodai Station and nightclub Escapade.
Additionally, this isn’t the first time Lotus Juice and Shoji Meguro have collaborated with another artist recently. In March 2025, the two teamed up with VTuber and artist Mori Calliope for the very Persona 3 vibe track ‘Seeing Stars’.
